Las Vegas DMV guides, in plain language

What each errand takes and what to have ready — so nothing about the DMV is a surprise. Not sure which applies to you? Schedule a pickup and we will confirm.

Vehicle Registration in Las Vegas

What it takes to register a car in Las Vegas, and how we do it for you.

  • Nevada requires registration for any vehicle driven on public roads. New residents generally have 30 days to register after establishing residency.
  • Most vehicles need a current smog/emissions test before registration in Clark County. We coordinate the inspection so you do not have to hunt for a station.
  • Typical documents: proof of ownership (title or registration), proof of Nevada insurance, a VIN inspection for out-of-state vehicles, and the emissions result.
  • We come to you, collect these documents, complete the paperwork, and file with the DMV. You track it from your portal until your plates and registration are ready.

Title Transfers

Buying, selling, or gifting a vehicle in Las Vegas without the counter.

  • A title transfer moves ownership of a vehicle from one party to another. It is required within a set window after a private-party sale.
  • You will usually need the signed title, a bill of sale, an odometer disclosure, and proof of insurance for the new owner.
  • Liens must be released before a clean title can transfer. If a loan was paid off, we can process the lien release as part of the transfer.
  • We prepare and submit the transfer for you and keep you posted through the portal until the new title and registration are issued.

Smog & Emissions in Clark County

When Las Vegas drivers need an emissions test, and how it fits our process.

  • Clark County (Las Vegas metro) requires emissions testing for most gas vehicles at registration and renewal. Some newer and electric vehicles are exempt.
  • The test must be current when your registration is filed. An expired result means the DMV will not process the registration.
  • We coordinate the emissions step as part of your service so it is done in the right order, and the passing result goes straight onto your paperwork.

New to Las Vegas

Just moved to the valley? Here is the vehicle side of settling in.

  • New Nevada residents generally must register their vehicles within 30 days of establishing residency.
  • Out-of-state vehicles typically need a VIN inspection and a Nevada emissions test before they can be registered here.
  • You will need proof of Nevada insurance and proof of ownership. We gather everything at pickup and handle the filing.
  • This is the errand most new arrivals dread — we make it a scheduled pickup instead of a day off work.

Required Documents Checklist

What to have ready when our rep comes to you.

  • Proof of ownership — your current title or, for a renewal, your registration.
  • Proof of Nevada insurance for the vehicle.
  • A valid photo ID for the owner (and the buyer/seller for a transfer).
  • Emissions result if your vehicle requires one — we can coordinate the test if you have not done it.
  • For a private sale: the signed title, bill of sale, and odometer disclosure.
  • Not sure what applies to you? Schedule a pickup and we will confirm the exact list for your service.

REAL ID

What a REAL ID is and why Las Vegas drivers ask about it.

  • A REAL ID is a federally compliant driver license or ID, marked with a gold star, needed to board domestic flights and enter certain federal facilities.
  • Getting one requires an in-person visit with original identity and residency documents, so it is handled directly at the DMV.
  • We focus on vehicle registration, titles, and plates. For REAL ID we will point you to the right DMV appointment and the document list to bring.

General guidance only. Specific requirements, fees, and current forms are set by the Nevada DMV and can change. We confirm the exact details for your service before we start.
